Meet Dr. Kelly Hood, a veterinarian with a uniquely melodic background and a deep passion for animal welfare.
Dr. Hood’s journey into veterinary medicine is as diverse as it is inspiring.
She began her career journey with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business from William Paterson University in New Jersey.
It was in Nashville, where she met her husband, a recording engineer, and together they moved to Florida.
She embarked on her veterinary journey by starting as a kennel technician and volunteering at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.
Her commitment to animal care led her to the University of Central Florida for pre-veterinary studies.
Dr. Hood achieved her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University.
Her time in vet school was marked by active involvement in Christian Veterinary Missions, contributing to five trips to the Cherokee and Navajo reservations.
She also volunteered with the ASPCA, participating in three deployments with the medical team to assist animals affected by hoarding and dog-fighting raids.
Dr. Hood’s interests includes focusing on senior pets, strengthening the human-animal bond and preventative medicine.
